Outremont is a place in the municipality of Clos du Doubs in Switzerland .
geography
Outremont is 1 km north of Saint-Ursanne and 1.5 km east of the Col de la Croix on the south-sloping mountain flank of Mont Terri , on a terrace. The old borders are visible through boundary stones. Today's borders are only roughly marked by sundials.
history
There was a castle in Outremont on the left edge of the forest on the hill. Only the moat and the crevices around the lost ruins are visible.
The road, which was only built in the Second World War, is still passable today and leads east and west through Outremont. The old route of the path is nowadays sometimes difficult to recognize and is only used in parts. The coordinates of the old borders are 577893/247161.
Since 1989 the farm has been operated by the newly founded Outremont GmbH .
Outremont was part of Montmelon until January 1, 2009 .

Outremont is not served by public transport . The place is connected by roads to Saint-Ursanne, Courgenay and Delémont and can be reached on foot in 45 minutes from the Saint-Ursanne train station. The connection to the main road at Col de la Croix was only covered with asphalt in the 21st century.
Surname
The meaning of Outre is beyond and probably relates to Montenol the southern city after St-Ursanne . The second part of the name is derived from Mont, the French word for mountain.
