Peter Frankl

Peter Frankl (born October 2, 1935 in Budapest ) is a British pianist .

Frankl studied at the Budapest Music Academy with Lajos Hernádi , Zoltán Kodály and Leó Weiner .

In 1962 he made his debut in London and New York with the Cleveland Orchestra . As a result, he performed with numerous important orchestras in the USA, Europe and Israel and went on concert tours to Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He has given concerts under conductors such as Claudio Abbado , Wladimir Aschkenasi , Sir John Barbirolli , Herbert Blomstedt , Pierre Boulez , Riccardo Chailly , Sir Colin Davis , Antal Doráti , Iván Fischer , Bernard Haitink , Rudolf Kempe , István Kertész , Erich Leinsdorf , Lorin Maazel , Kurt Masur , Riccardo Muti , Kurt Sanderling , Sir Georg Solti and George Szell .

He has performed more than twenty times at the Proms in London, he is also a regular guest at the music festivals in Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Aldeburgh , Verbier and Kuhmo and in the USA at Aspen, Chautauqua, Hollywood Bowl, Marlboro, Norfolk, Ravinia and Santa . In chamber music he worked with Kyung-Wha Chung , Ralph Kirshbaum , András Schiff and Tamás Vásáry , the Bartók-, the Borodin-, the Fine Arts-, the Guarneri-, the Lindsay-, the Panocha-, the Takács-, the Tokyo - and the Vermeer String Quartet together. He also teaches master classes around the world.

Frankl has recorded the entire piano works by Robert Schumann and Claude Debussy , as well as solo works by Frédéric Chopin , Franz Schubert , Ludwig van Beethoven and Béla Bartók , piano concertos by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Johannes Brahms , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Schumann and Chopin as well as chamber music by Mozart , Brahms, Schubert, Schumann, Antonín Dvořák , Ernst von Dohnányi , Bohuslav Martinů and Bartók.
