FK Sochi was founded on June 6, 2018 and emerged from the dissolved FK Dynamo Saint Petersburg . Parts of the staff (such as the coach Alexander Totschilin ) and various players were also taken over from the previous club, as were the club colors white-blue. The association's president is Boris Rotenberg .
Initially, the team took part in the game operations of the second Russian league in the 2018/19 season. As runner-up, he was immediately promoted to the top division in spring 2019 .
