The PZL Bielsko SZD-45 Ogar (German Greyhound ) is a two-seater motor glider made in Poland . The aircraft can be used for training and for hiking gliding with motor assistance.
history
Development of the SZD-45 began in the early 1970s and was carried out by Tadeusz Łabuć. It completed its maiden flight on May 29, 1973 and was presented to the public for the first time at the Hanover Air Show. First, a 33.5 was kW strong Stamo -Motor provided later came Limbach SL 1700 EC 50.7 kW are used, which drove a Hoffmann-propeller. By 1979, 59 aircraft had already been sold. In the GST of the GDR 14 copies of the SZD-45A Ogar flew from 1976, where they were initially approved for simple aerobatics, but this was canceled after a fatal accident in 1986 in which the wings were dismantled in the air.
construction
The SZD-45 is a two-seater shoulder -wing aircraft with twin controls and seats arranged side by side. The landing gear consists of a centrally arranged retractable and sprung main wheel, a support wheel each under the wing tips and a tail wheel under the tail. The propeller is arranged in a pressure configuration. The fuselage part , which is provided with two ribs , consists of GRP shells, the adjoining tail unit is made of light metal. The trapezoidal, single-spar wing is constructed in a composite construction with GRP and plywood paneling. The T-tail unit is also made of GRP with partial fabric covering.
