The PZL Bielsko SZD-35 Bekas ( German  Schnepfe ) is a training glider from the Polish manufacturer SZD Bielsko . SZD stands for Szybowcowy Zakład Doświadczalny (Glider Development Plant ).

history

The two-seater school glider SZD-35 Bekas was created on the basis of a contract between the GDR and the VR Poland to develop a successor model for the SZD-9bis1E Bocian , which was the standard training aircraft of the Society for Sport and Technology (GST) at the time. The implementation of the project began in 1969 under the direction of T. Labuć and J. Niespal. The first prototype with the connoisseur SP-2553 flew for the first time in November 1970 with Adam Zientek. A second followed ( SP-2557 ) in March 1971; a third was only used for stress tests on the ground. However, the plane disappointed. The performance (s?) Was (s?) Only slightly better than the Bocian . It turned out that a contemporary school glider in classic wooden construction could no longer be realized. The further development path led to the GFP aircraft and in the VR Poland to the SZD-50 Puchacz , the last standard school glider of the GST of the GDR.

Construction work

The Bekas is a self-supporting middle decker in a wooden half-shell construction with an oval cross-section and plywood and GRP paneling in the front area. The negatively swept (−4 °) and positive V-position (4 °) is made of wood and has a continuous main spar. Two thirds of the wings are plywood and one third fabric covered and have gapless ailerons. The self-supporting normal tail unit is also made of wood with fabric-covered oars. The rigid chassis consists of a main wheel 350 × 135 mm with disc brake and a rigid, non-steerable tail wheel, there is no skid.
