Pablo Dorado (born June 22, 1908 in Montevideo , † November 18, 1978 ibid) was a Uruguayan football player .

Club career

According to the kicker website , he played for Bella Vista in his home country from 1927 to 1931 and for River Plate in Argentina from 1932 to 1934 . There he and his team became Argentine champions in 1932. The football internet database "playerhistory" only records the years 1928 and 1929 as well as 1932 and 1933 as club membership in the clubs mentioned in the Uruguayan Primera División or the top division of Argentina .

National team

The striker Dorado was a member of the Uruguayan national team, with which he was able to secure the world championship title at the football World Cup in 1930 when this tournament was held for the first time. Together with Ernesto Mascheroni , he was the youngest player in the Uruguayan team. In the final against Argentina, which his team won 4-2, he scored the 1-0 for Uruguay in the 12th minute of the game. He was thus able to immortalize himself in the statistics as the first ever goal scorer in the final of a football World Cup. Overall, he completed seven international matches between June 16, 1929 and May 18, 1932, in which he scored three goals.
