Emilio Recoba (born November 3, 1904 in Montevideo , † September 12, 1992 ; according to other information: * 1903, † 1991) was a Uruguayan football player .

Life

Recoba, whose life dates are different, was born in Barrio Palermo in Montevideo. The date of birth is usually given as November 3, 1904, but the years 1903 and 1905 also circulate without a more precise determination. He died on September 12, 1992. Here too, however, 1991 is mentioned differently.

Career

Recoba initially played at club level for Charley FC , but soon joined Nacional Montevideo . In 1925 he toured Europe with the Bolsos . In 1926 and 1927 Recoba completed a tour with the Nacionals team in Central America and the USA. In total, he played 142 games for the Montevideans, 77 of them official (three goals). His career came to an end in 1932 as a result of a meniscus injury.

National team

The right-back was a member of the Uruguayan national soccer team . He made his debut for Celeste on October 18, 1926. His last of a total of five international matches, he completed on June 16, 1929. A goal he was not granted in the course of his national team career. Recoba was involved in winning the Campeonato Sudamericano in 1926 on an international level . During the tournament he was used by trainer Ernesto Fígoli four times.

Although he was able to secure the world championship title at the football world championship in 1930 when this tournament was held for the first time with Uruguay. However, Recoba was only part of the Uruguayan squad and was not used during the tournament. He was planned by coach Alberto Suppici as a potential replacement for José Nasazzis . He died as the last living world champion of the 1930s squad.
