Padaun is a high valley in the Zillertal Alps in Tyrol , near the Brenner Pass , and also a district of Vals in the Innsbruck-Land district .
Location and landscape
The approximately 1.7 kilometer long valley is a side valley of the Wipptal near Lueg ( Gries am Brenner ), and extends in a south-west-north-east direction between the Padauner Kogel and the Vennspitze . It opens on its northeast side over an almost completely flat pass, called Padauner Sattel , to the Valsertal .
The scattered houses in Padaun lie from the Larcherhof to the Padauner chapel and the Steckholzer inn .

history
The Padaun forms an old mule track from Vals over the Padauner Sattel to the Brennersee , which was already important for the Valsertal in the Middle Ages. The settlement in individual farms and farm groups that characterize the Talung today goes back to the High Middle Ages.
