Paleornithology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paleornithology ( Greek : palaios = old, ornis = bird, logos = word) is the branch of palaeozoology that deals with fossil birds .

Although there are a number of palaeontological and biological groups dealing with paleornithological issues and early bird finds have been of public interest in recent years, the term is rarely used.

The international society for palaeornithology is the Society of Avian Palaeontology and Evolution (SAPE).
