Pasquale Preziosa (born March 21, 1953 in Bisceglie , Apulia ) is a retired Italian general . From February 2013 to March 2016 he was Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force ( Aeronautica Militare ).

Life

Pasquale Preziosa joined the Italian Air Force in 1971 and was trained as a jet pilot after his officer training in Lecce and Amendola . In 1977 he was in Grosseto on the Lockheed F-104 retrained and 382 fighter bomber squadron (382ª Squadriglia) in Gioia del Colle allocated. From April 1981 to August 1982 he was "Squadron Captain " of the 384th Squadron at the same location . He then worked as an operations officer of the 156th Fighter- Bomber Group and later the 36th Squadron in Gioia de Colle. In 1983 he was retrained in Cottesmore, United Kingdom at the Tri-National Tornado Training Establishment on the Panavia Tornado model and trained as a flight instructor . From September 1987 he commanded the 156º Gruppo in Gioia del Colle .

After Preziosa had completed the first part of the general staff training at the Scuola di Guerra Aerea in Florence from September 1980 to April 1981 , the second part followed there from September 1988 to June 1989. He then became adjutant to the commander of the 2nd Air Force Region (2ª Regione Aerea) in Rome . From January 1992 to August 1994 he was head of the financial planning department of the Air Force General Staff. After commanding the 36th Squadron in Gioia del Colle from September 1994 to September 1996, he was in charge of the above-mentioned financial planning department and the planning department of the Air Force General Staff until October 1998. From October 1998 to June 1999 he graduated from the Armed Forces Leadership Academy in Rome. He then headed the office of the Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force until December 2001. From December 2001 to August 2003 he was Deputy Head of the Planning and Operations Department of the Air Force General Staff ( A3 ).

Promotions

From August 2003 to September 2006 Preziosa was a Defense Attaché at the Italian Embassy in the United States in Washington, DC . He then took over the management of the financial planning department on the General Staff of the Italian Armed Forces in Rome until February 2008 and then the planning and operations department (J3) until October 2009. After a brief assignment with the General Staff of the Air Force, Preziosa headed the training command of the Italian Air Force in Bari from April 2010 to December 2011 , after which he served as Head of the Cabinet of the Defense Minister until February 2013 . On February 25, 2013 Preziosa was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Italian Air Force ( Capo di Stato Maggiore dell'Aeronautica Militare ). On March 30, 2016, he gave up this post to Lieutenant General Enzo Vecciarelli and retired.

Preziosa has flown a total of around 2300 hours on various types of aircraft of the Italian Air Force.

Private

Pasquale Preziosa is married and has two daughters.
