Patricio "Patrick" Fuentes (born March 13, 1995 in Donostia-San Sebastián ) is a Spanish ice hockey player who has been under contract with CH Txuri Urdin in the Spanish Super League since 2012 .

Career

Patricio Fuentes began his career as a hockey player in Canada, where he played in various youth teams at St. Andrew's College. In 2012 he returned to his Basque hometown Donostia-San Sebastián , where he has since been on the ice at CH Txuri Urdin in the super league . In the 2015/16 season he was the best goal setter in the league. In 2017 and 2018 he won the Spanish championship with his club .

International

For Spain , Fuentes took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2011 , 2012 and 2013 , when he was the top scorer and best assist provider of the tournament and was voted the best player of his team, as well as the U20 World Championships in 2013 , 2014 , when he was behind the South Korean Lee Doung-gun, together with his compatriot Kim Hyungk-yeum, was the second best goal setter of the tournament and was once again named the best player of the Spaniards, and in 2015 participated in Division II. He acted as the team captain of his team at the U18 World Cup in 2013 and the U20 championships in 2014 and 2015. He was also part of the host team at the 2015 Winter Universiade in Granada, Spain.

Fuentes made his debut in the men's national team at the 2014 World Cup , when he and his team were promoted from group B to group A in Division II. He also played in 2015 , 2016 , when he was elected the best player of his team, and in 2017 and 2018 , when he was the second best scorer after his compatriot Oriol Boronat to help get promoted to the A group and was voted the best striker of the tournament in Division II. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 , when the Spaniards were eliminated from pre-qualification group L after a 3: 5 defeat after a 2-0 lead against Serbia despite the home advantage in Valdemoro .
