Patrick Baur (born May 3, 1965 in Radolfzell ) is a former German tennis player .

Career

Baur became a professional tennis player in 1986. The following year he won his first Challenger tournament in Fürth . In 1988 he won his first double title on the ATP World Tour alongside Udo Riglewski in Båstad by beating Stefan Edberg and Nicklas Kroon in the final . He also won the singles title at the Challenger tournament in Martinique , won the double title with Udo Riglewski at the Challenger tournament in Valkenswaard and was in the final of the ATP tournament in Tel Aviv with Alexander Mronz . The following year he was able to win the double title in Tel Aviv, this time together with Jeremy Bates . His second was also his last double title on the ATP World Tour. He won another individual title on the Challenger Tour that same year in Manchester .

1991 was his most successful year. He won two ATP singles titles; in the Brazilian Guarujá he defeated Fernando Roese in the final, in the final in Seoul he was successful against Jeff Tarango . In 1992 he was in an ATP double-final for the last time in Taipei , but lost to the side of Christo van Rensburg against the Australians Sandon Stolle and John Fitzgerald . He reached his highest scores in the ATP world rankings in 1991 with 74th place in singles and in 1989 with 64th place in doubles.

His best individual result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the third round of Wimbledon in 1995. In the doubles competition, he advanced to the third round in 1989 at the Australian Open and the French Open .

With the TC Blau-Weiss Neuss, Baur was four times German team champion and three times German runner-up and one runner-up European champion.
