Patrick Hughes (* 1978 in Australia ) is an Australian film director , screenwriter , film editor and film producer who became internationally known for films such as Red Hill , The Expendables 3 and Killer's Bodyguard .

Life

Patrick Hughes, born in Australia in 1978, has worked in the film business in various roles since 2000. Among other things as editor, screenwriter or producer, at the beginning still for short films like The Director or The Lighter , since 2010 also for the big screen.

In 2010 Hughes directed his first own feature film production in the form of a modern western with his Australian action thriller Red Hill starring Ryan Kwanten , Steve Bisley and Tommy Lewis , which received an award nomination for the best screenplay at the Australian Film Institute and also was nominated for Best Editing at the Film Critics Circle of Australia . Sylvester Stallone , who had seen the film and was a big fan of the film, hired Patrick Hughes for his second sequel to The Expendables with stars .

While filming The Expendables 3 in Bulgaria in 2014 , Hughes worked alongside actor and screenwriter Sylvester Stallone with stars such as Jason Statham , Jet Li , Dolph Lundgren , Arnold Schwarzenegger , Wesley Snipes , Antonio Banderas , Mel Gibson and Harrison Ford . In 2017 he directed Killer's Bodyguard for Netflix, a successful action comedy for which a sequel called The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is already in preparation. There, too, Ryan Reynolds , Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek play again under the direction of Patrick Hughes.

In addition to his work on short and feature films, Hughes has also worked successfully for commercials in the past.
