Paul-August Koch

Paul-August Koch (born April 6, 1905 in Radebeul ; † June 28, 1998 in Aachen ) was a German textile technician and university professor .

Life

Family and education

The Evangelical baptized, native axis Paul August Koch, son of the chemist Dr. Paul Koch and his wife Anna, née Möbius, passed their Abitur at the secondary school in Radebeul in 1924 . Subsequently, he turned to the study of textile technology at the Technical University of Graz and the Technical University of Dresden , where he obtained his diploma in 1931, and in 1937 he received his doctorate as Dr.-Ing. Paul-August Koch married Elisabeth nee Greuner in 1933. He died in Aachen at the end of June 1998 at the old age of 93.

Professional career

In 1930 Paul-August Koch received an assistant position at the chair for textile and paper technology at the Technical University of Dresden, and in 1935 he moved to the position of lecturer for materials science and materials testing at the higher textile school in Wuppertal-Barmen. In 1939 Koch accepted an appointment as associate professor for textile and paper technology at the Technical University of Dresden, at the same time he was appointed to the chair for fiber science, in 1945 he resigned from these functions. Paul-August Koch, who had been appointed research officer for textile science work since 1946, was entrusted in 1948 with the management of the scientific department of the Stoffel company in Netstal in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland . In 1954 Paul-August Koch led a fellowship from the Textile Institute to Manchester , Great Britain . After his return to Germany in 1956, Paul-August Koch was appointed head of the Textile Engineering School in Krefeld , which he held until he retired in 1970. In addition, since 1964 Paul-August Koch filled teaching positions in the field of microscopy in textile technology at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen , where he was appointed honorary professor in 1970 . Paul-August Koch, whose research encompassed fiber science, microscopy of textile fibers and fiber testing, was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 1971.
