Career
Young was a member of the band Q-Tips for many years and from the spring of 1983 he was finally successful as a soloist. With a cover version of the Marvin Gaye song Wherever I Lay My Hat and the accompanying album No Parlez , produced by Laurie Latham , it reached number 1 in the UK . Other hits from the LP were Come Back and Stay and Love of the Common People , which also made it into the top 10 in Germany. At the end of 1984 Young was a member of the Band Aid project.
Because of vocal problems Young had to withdraw from show business for a while from mid-1987. After a major appearance at Nelson Mandela's birthday concert , he was occasionally able to return to the charts from spring 1990 .
At the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert held at Wembley Stadium in London on April 20, 1992, he sang the song Radio Ga Ga with the remaining Queen musicians .
In addition to his solo career, he has also been a singer in the Tex-Mex band Los Pacaminos since 1993. In 1995 he recorded the title Losing Sleep with Vangelis for his album Voices . In 2005 he was on tour with Manfred Mann's Mike d'Abo and Paul Jones .
