Even at a young age, Bürck, who was inspired by nature in his choice of motifs, caused a sensation in the art scene with original designs for art glazing, floor carpets, wallpaper and book decorations. His artistic activity in the Darmstadt artists' colony at the age of a good 20 years is characterized by floral Art Nouveau . His main work, which can no longer be seen today, was the design of four wall friezes in the Ernst-Ludwig-Haus, the newly built studio house of the artist community. In the context of the first exhibition entitled A Document of German Art from May to October 1901, Bürck presented paintings, drawings, jewelry and book art . In addition, the furnishings for his apartment in the studio house, designed together with Patriz Huber, could be seen. For the exhibition restaurant he designed a porcelain service with black and white ornamentation as well as the food and drink menus.

After his time in Darmstadt, Bürck found more and more a more abstract and strict formal language. The most important result of his time in Magdeburg is the design of the "Magdeburg Room", which was carried out together with Albin Müller , Hans von Heider, Fritz von Heider and Paul Lang, which was awarded the Grand Prix in 1904 at the 1904 World Exhibition in St. Louis .

Bürck published numerous portfolio works with printed drawings, lithographs and etchings, which mainly show landscape views as well as symbolist and allegorical sequences. From 1913 onwards, the motifs of his consistently representational painting were landscapes, figure pictures and portraits. He also created around 30 bookplates for Ludwig Saeng , the Princess of Solms , Count Otto von Westphalen and other owners.

During the time of National Socialism, Bürck painted murals in which an affinity for National Socialism can be determined.

Paul Bürck was a member of the German Association of Artists .
