Paul Benedikt Jucker-Staehelin (born February 13, 1907 in Basel ; † January 17, 1992 there ) was a Swiss geriatrician .

biography

He was particularly influenced by Max Askanazy , the head of pathological anatomy in Geneva. In 1939 Jucker wrote his dissertation on arteriosclerosis . In the same year he married Ruth Staehelin, daughter of the professor of internal medicine Rudolf Staehelin . In 1945 he became chief physician at the military sanatorium in Davos . In 1955/1956, Jucker-Staehelin was elected as the successor to Adolf Lukas Vischer as chief physician of the old people's homes at the Basel Citizens' Hospital and remained so until 1976. With Jakob Oeri-Hoffmann he founded the School for Practical Nursing , whose concept is one of the most important pillars of the todayOne of the elderly care .

Jucker-Staehelin was the cousin of the Swiss composer Heinrich Sutermeister .
