Life

As the son of miner Paul Jenisch the Elder Ä. (* around 1519; † April 26, 1570 in Annaberg) and his wife Anna Walter († around 1554), the daughter of Martin Walter, he was initially given private lessons. Nevertheless, he attended the school in Annaberg, where the principal of the school Magister Mylius recognized his talent and encouraged him. He was able to enroll at the University of Leipzig in 1567 and at the University of Wittenberg in 1570 . There he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy on March 15, 1576 .

He then went to the city school in his hometown as vice-principal and became its principal on October 25, 1581 . On March 29, 1593, he resigned his school post and on January 4, 1594, he took over a pastor's position in Eula . On July 7, 1596 he became superintendent in Eilenburg and in 1603 went to Dresden as second court preacher . Here he rose to the first court preacher in 1609; in this function he also worked as an assessor at the Saxon higher consistory. After the death of Polykarp Leyser the Elder, Jenisch became a Saxon court preacher in 1610 . He managed the task until his death. He died of colic that developed from a stone condition. His body was buried on November 15, 1612 in the Dresden Sophienkirche .
