Paul Joseph Otto Johansson (born January 26, 1964 in Spokane , Washington ) is an American actor , director and screenwriter .

Life

Johansson was born in the United States and raised in Canada . There he played for two years in the national basketball team . His acting career began in 1989 in the US soap California Clan , where he played the role of Greg Hughes. This was followed by a recurring role in the comedy series Parker Lewis . In 1993 he then played John Sears in the Fox series Beverly Hills, 90210 . This was followed by guest roles in series such as A Heavenly Family , Dharma & Greg and Andromeda . In between he played as Nick Wolfe in the short-lived series Raven - The Immortals . In 2000 he starred in the western Glory Glory , in which he played a son-general named Wes.

His breakthrough came in 2003 with One Tree Hill and the role of Dan Scott. He even got a compliment from the Dallas lead actor Larry Hagman for his portrayal of the nasty schemer . In addition to his appearances in various series, Johansson is also often involved in small supporting roles in movies. In 2004 he received a Daytime Emmy Award for his film The Incredible Mrs. Ritchie . In 2011 he directed The Atlas Trilogy - Who is John Galt? his first cinema production, a novel adaptation.

In addition to the two films for which he himself wrote the screenplay, Johansson also repeatedly directed One Tree Hill .
