Raimund Hoghe

Raimund Hoghe (born May 12, 1949 in Wuppertal ; † May 14, 2021 in Düsseldorf ) was a German choreographer , dancer , filmmaker , journalist and author .

Life

As a journalist, he first wrote portraits of outsiders and celebrities, which appeared in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit and were also summarized in several books. From 1980 to 1990 he worked as a dramaturge for the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch , about which he also wrote two books. From 1989 he developed his own theater works for various dancers and actors. In 1992 he started working with the visual artist Luca Giacomo Schulte, who remained his artistic collaborator until the end. In 1994 he realized the first solo for himself, Meinwärts , the Chambre séparée (1997) and Another Dream(2000) followed as a trilogy over the past century. In addition to his theater work, Hoghe was often active for television and realized, among other things. 1997 a one-hour self-portrait commissioned by WDR : The hump . His books have been translated into several languages, and his pieces have made guest appearances in various countries in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. He has received numerous prizes, including the 2001 German Producer Prize for Choreography. In 2006 he received the Prix de la critique Francaise for Swan Lake, 4 acts in the category “Best Foreign Production”. In 2008, Hoghe was named Dancer of the Year in the critics' poll of the magazine ballet-tanz . Books about his theater work have appeared in France, Germany, England and the USA. In 2019 he became Officier des French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres .

Raimund Hoghe lived in Düsseldorf , where he died in May 2021 at the age of 72.
