Paul Manning (born April 15, 1979 in Red Deer , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Hannover Scorpions from the German Ice Hockey League .

Career

Manning began his career in 1997 at Colorado College , for which he participated in the game operation of the US college sports organization National Collegiate Athletic Association . Manning played there for four years and was able to show relatively good statistics as a defender, so that the Calgary Flames selected him during the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the third round in a total of 62nd place, but shortly after the draft transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets .

For the 2001/02 season Manning first moved to the farm team of the Blue Jackets, the Syracuse Crunch from the American Hockey League . After showing good performance there, the Canadian was allowed to prove himself in the National Hockey League in the 2002/03 season , but he only made eight appearances for Columbus. In the summer of 2003 Manning finally signed a contract with the Hamburg Freezers , for which he went on the ice until the 2009/10 season in the German Ice Hockey League . After the 2009/10 season it was announced that Manning will play for the Hannover Scorpions in return for Garrett Festerling from the 2010/11 season . The Canadian ended his active career in spring 2012.
