Paul Andre Abel Romand (born September 25, 1930 in Les Rousses in the Jura department , † July 1, 2011 in Saint-Claude ) was a French cross-country skier and biathlete . He took part in three Olympic Winter Games in two sports .

Paul Romand was employed by the French customs administration and started for their Le Ski Club des Douanes in Morez , previously he was a member of the Skieurs Rousselands ski club . Together with Victor Arbez and his brother Louis Romand , he won the traditional cross-country skiing competition La coupe Gérard Montefiore in 1958 and 1959 for a trophy originally created by Paul Landowski . He first took part in the Winter Olympics in 1956 . In Cortina d'Ampezzo he started cross-country skiing and finished 50th over 15 kilometers and 35th over 30 kilometers. Four years later he competed in Squaw Valley in biathlon and finished the inaugural Olympic biathlon competition in the single 28 His best international result reached Romand at the Biathlon World Cup 1962 in Hämeenlinna in ninth-placed of the function SINGLE. In 1963 he was 23. For the third time, the French competed in the 1964 Olympic Games. In Innsbruck he started both in cross-country skiing, where he finished sixth in the relay with Victor Arbez, Félix Mathieu and Roger Pires , and in biathlon. In the biathlon singles he was the only French and thus also the only remaining French biathlete in the first Olympic biathlon race in 1960 to finish 32nd. The Biathlon World Championship in Elverum in 1965 ended Romand in 25th place in the individual. At his last World Championships in 1966 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he placed one place lower and reached seventh place with Louis Romand, Daniel Claudon and Gilbert Mercier in the relay race, which was held for the first time in the official competition.
