Paulius Gintautas (born May 10, 1995 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian ice hockey player who has been playing at IK Comet since October 2014 in the Norwegian 1st divisjon , the second highest division in the country.

Career

Clubs

Paulius Gintautas began his career as an ice hockey player with the Russian club Kristall Elektrostal , for which he was already on the ice in the 2011/12 season. In 2013 he returned to Lithuania and initially played for Energija Elektrėnai , the top club of the Baltic country, which competes in the Vysschaja Liga , the second-highest division in Belarus. In 2014 he moved to Latvia for HK Riga in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga , a multinational youth league with predominantly Eastern European teams. There he only played one game and already moved to IK Comet in October in the 1st divisjon , the second highest Norwegian league, where he has been on the ice since then.

International

For Lithuania, Gintautas has already taken part in world championships in the junior division. In 2012 and 2013 , when he was the top scorer of the tournament and the best player on his team, the striker played at the U18 World Championships in Division II. He took part in the U20 World Championships in 2013 and 2014 when he was second best together with the Dutchman Raymond van der Schuit Top scorer after his compatriot Daniel Bogdziul , and in 2015 , when he was crowned top scorer together with the British Bobby Chamberlain .

Gintautas made his debut in the Lithuanian men's national team at the 2014 World Cup in Division I, which was held in his native Vilnius . In 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 he also played for the Balts in Division I. In addition, he represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang in 2018 and in the Baltic Cup in 2016 and 2017.
