Pentro di Isernia
Pentro di Isernia DOC or Pentro for short are dry Italian red , rosé and white wines from the province of Isernia in the Molise region . The name Pentro is derived from the ancient tribe of the Pentrer , a part of the Samnites who once lived in this area. The wines have had the status of a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since May 17, 1983 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Cultivation
The cultivation and vinification of the wines is permitted in the following municipalities of the province of Isernia: Agnone , Belmonte del Sannio , Castelverrino , Colli a Volturno , Fornelli , the eponymous municipality Isernia , Longano , Macchia d'Isernia , Montaquila , Monteroduni , Pesche , Pietrabbondante , Poggio Sannita , Pozzilli , Sant'Agapito and Venafro . The vineyards are located in the hills of the Berrino and Volturno valleys at a maximum altitude of 500 to 600 m above sea level. NN .

The following composition of grape varieties is prescribed:
- Pentro di Isernia Rosso and Rosato must consist of at least 75-80% of the Montepulciano grape variety , the Tintilia grape variety must contain at least 20-25% and a maximum of 5% other red grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Molise region, may be added.
- Pentro di Isernia Bianco or Pentro Bianco: must consist of at least 80% of the Falanghina grape variety and contain 15–20% Trebbiano toscano . A maximum of 5% other white grape varieties approved for cultivation in the Molise region may be added.
