Jo Pestum

Jo Pestum (born December 29, 1936 in Essen ; actually Johannes Stumpe ; † August 11, 2020 ) was a German writer and film author and was best known as an author of books for children and young people .

Life

Jo Pestum studied painting at the Folkwang School in Essen and was trained as a restorer and glass painter. He traveled extensively and worked as a construction worker, bartender, diver and trucker. He later worked for several magazines, worked as a cartoonist , editor-in-chief and editor-in- chief . Since 1973 he has been a freelance writer and film author, lived in the Münsterland near Billerbeck and wrote novels , children's books , poetry , detective novels , screenplays and radio plays . He was the editor of Edition Pestum.

Under the name Johannes Stumpe he was elected to the federal board of the Association of German Writers (VS) , today in ver.di , at the Dortmund Writers ' Congress (May 20/21, 1977) and held the position of assessor until 1983. He was a member of the PEN Center Germany .

Pestum's first crime series about Düsseldorf inspector Katzbach was published by Würzburger Arena-Verlag in the late 1960s. In the 1970s he published the crime series Luc Lucas (about a former Cologne detective who moved with his family “Do”, “Renate” and “Martin” to the “Rabenhof” to breed horses there). The series N & K followed in the 1980s . The Detectives. In the 1990s he worked on many scripts for the ZDF children's series classic Siebenstein (with Adelheid Arndt ).

Luc Lucas

Ten-volume series with the main character "Luc Lucas", all published by Franz Schneider Verlag from 1975 (first volume) to 1980 (tenth volume) with illustrations by Werner Heymann. The title of the series was translated into Dutch, Spanish and Danish and reprinted by Arena-Verlag in the 1980s . An anthology with the title Detective Luc Lucas was published there in 2002 .

N & K. The detectives

Seven-volume series, published by Franz Schneider Verlag. Volumes 1 and 2 have also been published as radio plays under the Schneider Ton label.

Paul reports on experiences from a first-person perspective, for example the trip to his cousin who lives in the country or the visit of Aunt Thea. Through his colorful imagination and the help of his friend Moses, these become hair-raising adventure stories. This book series has been set to music.
