Peter Buser (born January 27, 1937 in Trimbach , Switzerland ) is a Swiss banker, author, poet, concert organizer and patron.

Live and act

Peter Buser grew up in poor circumstances in Trimbach in Solothurn. After training as a primary school teacher at the teacher training college in Solothurn , he taught at various primary schools in the canton of Solothurn before completing his district teacher studies at the University of Bern and then studying Romance studies and general linguistics. In 1971 he received his doctorate summa cum laude with Siegfried Heinimann with a thesis in semasiology (“The terms for 'praying' and 'asking' in Christian Latin and Old French”).

Buser was already trading with WIR checks during his studies . He undertook several long-term trips to countries beyond the Iron Curtain, such as Romania , Czechoslovakia and later to the GDR . At the same time, he started working as an asset manager and ran portfolio management for wealthy private clients, sometimes to the annoyance of established Swiss banks. In 1974 he received a license to trade securities over the counter (B license) from the Economics Department of the Canton of Zurich . He could accept customer deposits and take out low-interest term loans from banks en bloc.

From 1978 Buser focused on the granting of Lombard loans . He was successful because he significantly undercut the interest rates of the banks and because his loan-to-value ratio was considered generous.

In the 1980s, the steady increase in regulations made banking-like business more difficult. Buser moved to the Dominican Republic and Brazil in 1991 . He was kidnapped in Rio de Janeiro in 1993 and had to pay a ransom of USD 500,000 for his release.

In 2004 Buser moved to the Principality of Liechtenstein and worked as a consultant for various companies. In the same year he founded the Gestio circle, a performance competition among asset managers, which he ran until 2013.

Buser works as a stock market advisor and acquires major clients whose investment decisions he plans and executes using the convertible bond arbitrage method . Administration is done by state-licensed banks and administrators in various countries.
