Peter Gutzeit (born December 14, 1946 ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

Peter Gutzeit began his career as a football player at Union Böckingen before moving to FK Pirmasens in 1968 in the Regionalliga Südwest . There the FKP took fourth place. In 1969/70 Gutzeit and his club were runner-up behind SV Alsenborn . As a result, Pirmasens qualified for the promotion round to the 1st Bundesliga , but could not assert itself there and was last in Group 2. Pirmasens was also able to conquer second place in the following season . Only the worse goal difference against Borussia Neunkirchen prevented the championship. Nevertheless, they took part again in the promotion round, but had to give VfL Bochum and VfL Osnabrück the right of way.

Gutzeit then moved to Hertha BSC in the 1st Bundesliga in the summer of 1971 , where he made 25 appearances under coach Helmut Kronsbein and scored two goals. He also made two short appearances in the UEFA Cup against IF Elfsborg , where he scored one goal. In 1972/73 Gutzeit played 21 Bundesliga games and five goals, making him third-best Hertha goalscorer behind Lorenz Horr (12 goals) and Erich Beer (10). In 1974 Hertha took eighth place in the table. However, under Kronsbein and the new coach Hans Eder , Gutzeit only made 18 appearances with six goals.

That is why he went to Karlsruher SC in the summer of 1974 in the newly introduced 2nd Bundesliga South , where he was deployed as a midfielder under Carl-Heinz Rühl and was instant champion. Behind Bernd Hoffmann , who scored 25 goals, Gutzeit was the club's best scorer with eleven goals. Even if the KSC in 1975/76 just kept the class, Gutzeit could not prevail and only completed seven games with one goal.

Then Gutzeit left Karlsruhe and moved to SV Neckargerach . There Gutzeit met his former club FK Pirmasens in the 2nd round of the DFB Cup , but retired 2-3. At the end of the season, SVN qualified for the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , but was only fourth and last in the Baden-Württemberg group.
