Peter Lippert
Peter Lippert (born August 23, 1879 in Altenricht near Amberg , Upper Palatinate , † December 18, 1936 in Locarno ) was a Roman Catholic priest and theologian .
Life
Peter Lippert grew up with eight siblings in a farming family. His school days at the Royal Humanistic Gymnasium in Amberg followed in 1898 in the seminary in Regensburg . On September 30, 1899, he entered the Jesuit order . He spent the two novitiate years in Feldkirch . Further studies in Exaten near Roermond and in Valkenburg followed. His speculative and literary talent was already evident during his studies .
On August 28, 1909 he received by Bishop Hermann Döring SJ the priesthood . After completing his studies, he came to Munich in 1912 as a permanent contributor to Voices of the Time . Munich remained his permanent residence now.
Lippert conveyed his pastoral impulses as a sensitive herald of the human heart in lectures, essays, books, retreats, radio sermons, correspondence and work in the consulting room. His speech at the Munich Katholikentag on August 28, 1922 received a lot of attention. For his performances he usually chose the centers of the big cities in order to be able to reach the largest possible audience.
He published his pastoral talks in 1924 in his book From Soul to Soul .
In 1925 he traveled to Rome for the first time for the canonization of Petrus Canisius . In 1929/30 there was another six-month stay in Rome at the Bellarminkolleg, during which he prepared his book about the Church of Christ. From 1930 he became well known for his radio sermons.
As a result of his poor health, he spent the winter of 1936 in Locarno, where he died of pneumonia. His grave in the cemetery at the Bethlehem Mission House in Immensee is adorned with a Sacred Heart statue with the inscription Ego vos semper custodiam ('I will always protect you').
Karl Adam wrote in his appreciation at the time: "In Catholic Germany we had no pen that knew how to write so discreetly and delicately, so empathetically and psychologically true, so faithfully and strongly, as his."
Lippert was an honorary member of the Munich Catholic student associations K.St.V. Südmark and K.St.V. Rheno-Bavaria , both in KV .
He should not be confused with the eponymous professor for moral and pastoral theology at the Philosophical-Theological University in Hennef / Sieg.
