Peter Mark Andrew Phillips (born November 15, 1977 in London-Paddington ) is the first son of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips . He is the firstborn grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh .

Life

Peter Phillips has a sister, Zara Phillips (* 1981), and two half-sisters from two later relationships of his father, Felicity Tonkin (* 1985) and Stephanie Phillips (* 1997). He was baptized on December 22, 1977 at Buckingham Palace by the Archbishop of Canterbury . His godparents were Charles, Prince of Wales , Geoffrey Tiarks, Captain Hamish Lochare, Lady Cecil Cameron of Lochiel and Jane Holderness-Roddam.

Phillips first attended the Port Regis Prep School in Shaftesbury, Dorset and later the Gordonstoun Private School in Scotland . He then studied sports science at the University of Exeter , where he graduated in 2000. After graduating, he first worked as an event manager for Jaguar and as a manager for Williams F1 , a British Formula 1 racing team, from 2005 for the Royal Bank of Scotland . In August 2008 Phillips started working for a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland in Hong Kong . In March 2012 he is leaving the Royal Bank of Scotland to work as Managing Director for SEL UK (sports and events agency).

marriage

Peter Phillips is married to Autumn Patricia Kelly , a Canadian .

Phillips met Autumn Kelly in 2003 at the Montreal Grand Prix , where he was present professionally and she worked as a hostess . The couple announced their engagement on July 28, 2007. They have taken part in events with the royal family several times, including a royal family cruise in 2006 and 2010 and the queen's diamond wedding in 2007 . The couple married on May 17, 2008 in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle . Phillips lived with his wife in an outbuilding of Gatcombe Park , Princess Anne's country home.

The couple's separation was announced in February 2020.

progeny

Peter and Autumn Phillips have two daughters, Savannah Anne Kathleen Phillips (born December 29, 2010 in Gloucester , Gloucestershire ) and Isla Elizabeth Phillips (born March 29, 2012 in Gloucester, Gloucestershire). Savannah is the first grandchild of Princess Anne and the first great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. Isla is the second oldest great-grandchild of the Queen and is probably named Elizabeth as her middle name in her honor . Both daughters were born at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital .

Varia

Phillips is considered to be very athletic and was an avid rugby player in his school days . In August 2012 he was the guest of honor at the final of the Challenge Cup of the rugby league between the Warrington Wolves and the Leeds Rhinos at Wembley .

In January 2020, Phillips starred in a commercial for the Chinese company Bright Food . There he advertises the company's milk as a “member of the British royal family”.

When his great-grandmother Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon died , he inherited around £ 1 million .

Succession to the throne

Peter Phillips has no title of nobility, as his parents refused the Queen's offer to give their children the title of “prince” or “princess”. In addition, his father deliberately refrained from being raised to the nobility. From his birth to 1982, Phillips was number 5 on the British line of succession . With the birth of his six cousins and their children, he gradually moved back to 15th place. His wife Autumn Kelly was originally Catholic, but converted to the Anglican denomination shortly before the wedding . If she had remained Catholic, Peter Phillips would have lost his right to the throne upon marriage through the Act of Settlement . The fact that a grandson of the queen could lose his right to the line of succession was taken as an opportunity by the media and politicians to discuss the abolition of the Act of Settlement . This has now been done through the implementation of the Perth Agreement .

coat of arms

Peter Phillips coat of arms

His grandmother Queen Elizabeth II awarded the coat of arms to his grandfather Major Peter William Garside Phillips († 1998) in October 1973 , but without the tournament collar . As long as his father Mark Phillips is alive, Peter Phillips will keep the tournament collar under his belt.
