Peter Rusnák (born September 6, 1950 in Humenné ) is bishop of the Greek Catholic eparchy in Bratislava .

Life

Peter Rusnák, the son of a Greek Catholic priest, was born in what is now Humenné , eastern Slovakia . During the communist regime in the former Czechoslovakia , the family was harassed by the state authorities. The study of theology graduated Peter Rusnák in the Roman Catholic University in Bratislava, at the same time she was the only Catholic school in today's territory of Slovakia during the communist takeover in Czechoslovakia. The ordination for archeparchy Prešov in the Greek Catholic rite received Rusnák on 16 June 1987th

As Apostolic Administrator Rusnák was following Greek Catholic parishes pastorally active: in Kapišová , Prešov , Vranov nad Topľou , Petrová and Bardejov . From 1990 to 1993, Rusnák worked as a spiritual director in the Greek Catholic seminary in Prešov for Greek Catholic priestly candidates .

From 1994 to 1995 he took over the duties of curia secretary in the Prešov Archeparchy . From 1995 to 1998 Rusnák worked as the director of the diocesan curia. For thirteen years, from 1990 to 2003, Peter Rusnák taught pastoral theology and homiletics at the Greek Catholic Faculty in Prešov. Rusnák also worked as a member of the Liturgical Commission. Pope Benedict XVI appointed Peter Rusnák on January 30, 2008 bishop of the Eparchy Bratislava . He was ordained bishop on February 16, 2008 by Cardinal Jozef Tomko ; Co- consecrators were Ján Babjak , Archbishop of Prešov , and Milan Chautur , Bishop of Košice . Since February 24, 2008 Peter Rusnák has been Bishop of the Bratislava Eparchy.
