The Eparchy Bratislava ( Latin Eparchia Bratislaviensis , Slovakian Bratislavská eparchia ) is a Greek Catholic eparchy unified with the Roman Catholic Church .
history
The Bratislava eparchy was founded on January 30th, 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Complures saeculorum and subordinated to the Archeparchy Prešov as a suffragan diocese. The pastoral direction of the eparchy of Bratislava was given to Benedict XVI. Bishop Peter Rusnák .
The ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the eparchy extends over the central and western national territory of Slovakia : the political districts Bratislavský kraj , Trnavský kraj , Trenčiansky kraj , Nitriansky kraj , Žilinský kraj and Banskobystrický kraj .
There are Greek Catholic parishes in the eparchy in Bratislava , Trenčín , Nitra , Banská Bystrica , Brezno , Zvolen , Telgárt , Šumiac , Žilina and Martin . In addition, is pastoral care of the Greek Catholic Christians in the cities of Trnava , Piešťany , Komárno , Prievidza , Ružomberok and Liptovský Mikuláš guaranteed.
The Greek Catholic Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross , built in the capital Bratislava, is also the cathedral of the Bratislava Eparchy.
