Peter Sendscheid

Peter Sendscheid (born September 28, 1965 in Bardenberg ) is a former German soccer player . He played in the Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04 .

Career

Sendscheid began playing football as a youth player in his family's place of residence at the Accordia Niederbardenberg club . From there he moved to Rhenania Richterich together with his brother Axel before joining Alemannia Aachen in 1985 . In the 1986/87 season he was able to play his first games in the 2nd Bundesliga here ; On his second outing, the striker scored his first goal against Union Solingen . In his third season he became a regular at Tivoli and scored 13 goals in 36 games. He scored three times in Alemannia's 5-2 win against Mainz 05 alone . The then manager of FC Schalke 04 , Helmut Kremers, watched this game . Sendscheid received a contract with the league competitor. Also "on Schalke" he was part of the regular formation in the 2nd division; but despite his 18 goals in 38 games, he and his teammates had to wait another year for promotion.

Sendscheid played 35 games in the Bundesliga in the 1991/92 season , but was only able to score seven goals. After a training accident in the hall in the winter of 1991/92, in which he injured his knee, injuries plagued him again and again. Despite three operations, the cartilage damage never healed . He made his last game for Schalke on August 27, 1994 against Hamburger SV , he was substituted in the 47th minute, Dieter Eckstein came on for him . “My left knee was twice as thick as my right after the encounter. It didn't work anymore, ”he said in 2007 looking back. His career ended at the age of 28; in February 1995 he filed an application for sports disability. After nine months of rehab he was able to get back on the pitch as a hobby player and joined the traditional Schalke team. He studied business administration in Cologne and worked for a while in the marketing department of Schalke. At the beginning of 2007 he worked as a sales representative for an office supplier.

In the so-called Colorful League in Aachen, a hobby soccer league organized outside the DFB, Peter Sendscheid was finally seen on the soccer field again since the late 1990s, sometimes with former professional colleagues, wearing the Le Bistro or MOTEX jersey -Team".
