Peter Zahn (politician)

Peter Zahn (born December 4, 1944 in Litzmannstadt ; † November 7, 2001 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1988 to 2000 he was parliamentary representative of the Interior Minister of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life and work

After graduating from secondary school in 1962, Zahn began an apprenticeship as a telecommunications engineer, which he completed in 1965. As a telecommunications craftsman, Zahn committed himself to an eight-year service with the Federal Border Police in 1966 . In 1972 he acquired the technical college entrance qualification and then studied at the University of Economics and Politics in Hamburg , which he graduated with a degree in social economics . In 1976, Zahn became head of department at the Hamburg Chamber of Trade and Commerce and in 1977 moved to Plön as managing director of the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union (ÖTV) . Most recently, until 1984 he was department manager at the ÖTV district administration north in Lübeck .

Peter Zahn was married and had two children.

Political party

Zahn joined the SPD in 1972 and initially got involved with the Jusos , whose deputy district chairman in Ostholstein he became in 1973. In 1975 he was also elected deputy chairman of the SPD district association Ostholstein; from 1981 to 1993 he was finally district chairman.

Tooth belonged from 1974 to 1984 the municipal council of Ratekau and was there from 1975 to 1983 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

From 1983 to 2000 he was a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein . From October 1987 to May 1988 he was Deputy Chairman of the Interior and Legal Affairs Committee and from May 1988 to March 2000 Parliamentary Representative of the Interior Minister .

Peter Zahn's 1988 and 1992 otherwise always as directly selected delegates of the constituency Eutin-South and on the national list drawn into the parliament.

Public offices

From 1978 to 1983, Zahn was 1st Deputy Mayor of the Ratekau community.

Social Commitment

Zahn, who joined the Deutsche Postgewerkschaft (DPG) and ÖTV in 1962, was chairman of the DPG youth in Lübeck from 1962 to 1965 and also deputy chairman of the Lübeck youth union.

Zahn also campaigned heavily for football . From 1978 to 1989 he was 2nd chairman of the Ostholstein district soccer association and from 1990 2nd chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein soccer association (SHFV). In 1994 he became the representative of the German Football Association (DFB) for social integration in football.
