Petra Merkel
Petra-Evelyne Merkel (born September 18, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( SPD ).
Life and work
After completing secondary school , Petra Merkel attended the commercial vocational school of the Lette Association in Berlin and then worked as a commercial clerk from 1966 to 1969 and again from 1979. In 2013 Merkel became honorary president of the International Federation .
Petra Merkel is evangelical and divorced and has a daughter.
Political party
She has been a member of the SPD since 1974.
MPs
From 1981 to 1989, Petra Merkel was a member of the district assembly of Berlin-Charlottenburg and from 1989 to 2001 of the Berlin House of Representatives . From 1994 to 1995 she was deputy chairwoman and from 1995 to 2001 parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group.
From 2002 to 2013 she was a member of the German Bundestag . Since 2002 she has been deputy spokeswoman for the Berlin regional group in the SPD parliamentary group . Since November 2005 she has also been the deputy spokeswoman for the parliamentary group working group “Budget” and since December 2005 a member of the SPD parliamentary group executive committee. From 2009 to 2013 she was the chairwoman of the budget committee in the Bundestag.
Petra Merkel has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Berlin-Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf constituency . In the 2009 Bundestag election , she received 32.0% of the first votes . She did not run for the 2013 federal election .
