Manfred Carstens
Manfred Carstens (born February 23, 1943 in Molbergen ) is a German politician ( CDU ).
From 1989 to 1993 he was Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Finance , from 1993 to 1997 for the Federal Minister of Transport and from 1997 to 1998 for the Federal Minister of the Interior .
Life and work
After attending commercial school, Carstens completed a savings bank apprenticeship , which he completed with a specialist examination as a savings bank business administrator . He then worked as a savings bank employee in Cloppenburg , Lohne and Oldenburg . From 1967 to 1972 he was director of the Emstek branch of the Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg .
Manfred Carstens is married and has three children.
Political party
He has been a member of the CDU since 1962. From 1980 to 2003 he was chairman of the CDU district association in Cloppenburg. From April 1985 to April 2009 he was chairman of the CDU regional association in Oldenburg.
MP
From 1972 to 2005 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From October 14, 1982 to April 21, 1989 he was chairman of the budget working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group .
From 2002 to 2005 Carstens was chairman of the budget committee .
Manfred Carstens has always entered the German Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Cloppenburg constituency or, since 1980, of the Cloppenburg - Vechta constituency . Most recently, he achieved 62.2% of the first votes in the 2002 Bundestag election .
Public offices
Speaking at a cabinet reshuffle Carstens was on 21 April 1989 as Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister of Finance in the by Chancellor Helmut Kohl led government appointed. On January 22, 1993, he moved to the Federal Minister of Transport in the same function and finally to the Federal Minister of the Interior on May 15, 1997. After the 1998 Bundestag election , he left office on October 26, 1998.
Club membership
Since 1990 he has been a member of the WKSt.V. Unitas Rhenania in Bonn .
