Lothar Haase

Lothar Haase (born August 30, 1923 in Kassel ; † December 8, 2013 there ) was a German economist and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and graduating from high school in Kassel, Haase was drafted into the armed forces. He took part in World War II as a tank destroyer from 1942 and was used in Russia and Italy . He was most recently captured by the British in Egypt , from which he was released in 1948.

After returning home, Haase began studying economics at the University of Marburg , which he completed in 1952 with an examination for a degree in economics. From 1953 to 1961 he worked at the Federal Employment Agency , later worked at the Central Employment Agency in Frankfurt am Main , where he was most recently appointed to the board of directors. After resigning from his Bundestag mandate, he was a member of the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg from 1983 to 1988 . From time to time he held the office of vice-president there.

Political party

Haase joined the CDU in 1948, joined the Junge Union (JU) in the same year and was state chairman of the JU Hessen from 1957 to 1961 . From 1962 to 1988 he was chairman of the CDU district association in North Hesse . He was also elected to the state board of the Hessian Christian Democrats.

MP

From 1956 to 1960, Haase was a member of the Kassel-Land district council . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 until his resignation on December 5, 1983. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of the CDU Hessen. 1981/82 he was chairman of the budget committee and 1982/83 chairman of the economic committee in the Bundestag.
