Rudi Walther
Rudi Walther (born October 22, 1928 in Kassel ; † May 16, 2010 in Wolfhagen ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
Walther had been a member of the SPD since 1946. He began his career in 1949 as an administrative clerk and later as a city inspector at the city administration in Kassel . In 1957 he became the full-time mayor of the town of Zierenberg in the Kassel district , the hometown of his wife Marli, with whom he had two daughters. As mayor, Rudi Walther played a key role in the regional reform in Hesse . From 1972 to 1994 he was a member of the German Bundestag . Walther was always elected directly in the Waldeck constituency. In the Bundestag he was chairman of the budget committee from 1983 to 1994 .
Walter received u. a. the Great Cross of Merit with Star of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
