history

Already around 1447 and 1544 a house of worship was occupied in Siebenhirten. During the second Turkish siege in 1683 the chapel was destroyed. In the early 18th century, a baroque church was built on the initiative of a certain master miller Friedrich Kieninger. Siebenhirten belonged to the parish of Atzgersdorf until 1783 , before it was raised to an independent parish.

On August 23, 1944, large parts of Siebenhirtens were destroyed when Allied planes flew an air raid. The plan was to destroy the Danubia oil refinery. However, due to a navigation error, the fighter pilots unloaded their bombs over Siebenhirten and destroyed the village. The parish church that stood on the grounds of the Siebenhirten cemetery was also in ruins.

In the summer of 1950 Friedrich Lhotsky became the new pastor of Siebenhirten. He was commissioned to replace the makeshift emergency church, a barrack, with a new building after the war. On May 5, 1951, a plot of land for the new parish church on the corner of Ketzergasse and Endlwebergasse was acquired. In September 1952 the architects Herbert Schmid , Otto Rinder and Otto Sobetzky presented the plans for the church building, which was consecrated on November 6, 1955 by Archbishop- Coadjutor Franz Jachym .

The parish hall to the left of the church was built from 1983 to 1985 according to plans by Herbert Schmid.
