Philip Barth (actor)

Philip Barth (born May 17, 1988 in Mainz ) is a German actor , director and playwright . Since January 2011 he has been artistic and directing director at the independent theater Junge Bühne Mainz .

Life

Philip Barth began his acting work in the 2005/2006 season at the Staatstheater Mainz in what was then the youth ensemble of which he was a member until the end of the 2008/2009 season. During this time, Philip Barth was seen in various roles in youth theater productions, for example as Poseidon, Antinous and Polyphemus in An Odyssey by Ad de Bont or as Albert in Anja Hilling's youth drama Sinn . The first professional speaking roles for television productions followed in 2008. From 2009 to 2012 Philip Barth completed his acting training at the Theaterhaus Mitte in Berlin at the acting studio Martz & Walker , which he completed in August 2012 with the desired training certificate. Since then, Philip Barth has mainly worked as a theater actor in various engagements, but also for cinema, film and television productions. Guest performances have taken him to the Theater im Pfalzbau Ludwigshafen, the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. He introduced himself to a larger television audience with episode roles in the television series 112 - You Save Your Life , Danni Lowinski , Everything That Matters and A Case for Two . Since the beginning of the 2011 season he has also been the artistic and directing director of the independent theater Junge Bühne Mainz , for which he has staged several productions and wrote several pieces since then. In his productions for the Young Stage in Mainz, Philip Barth often takes part as an actor, mostly in supporting roles, but occasionally also in leading roles. His major acting roles in his own directorial work include that of Zettel in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and that of Prospero in Shakespeare's The Tempest . In June 2016 Philip Barth and his team and ensemble realized the first own theater festival of the independent theater Junge Bühne Mainz under the title PopUp - Theatertage für Junge Schauspiel . Due to its success, the festival has meanwhile been integrated into the program of the Junge Bühne Mainz as an annual event. In addition to his acting training and parallel to his engagements, Philip Barth completed a degree in theater studies , German literature and philosophy at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , which he completed in July 2014 with the academic degree of Magister Artium . He lives in Mainz and Berlin .
