Philippe Maurice Marie Joseph Christory (born February 28, 1958 in Tourcoing ) is a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Chartres .

Life

Philippe Christory graduated from the Institut catholique d'arts et métiers in Lille and worked as an engineer in France and Africa for several years. He joined the Emmanuel Community and eventually began studying theology as a seminarian in the Archdiocese of Paris . He completed his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. On June 27, 1992, he received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Paris.

After further studies at the Pontifical Theological Faculty “Marianum” , he obtained a licentiate in Mariology . From 1993 to 2004 he worked in parish and school pastoral care in Paris. He then worked in the diocese of Fréjus-Toulon until 2007 and then became pastor again in Paris, most recently in the parish of Sainte-Trinité . He is also a member of the International Council of the Emmanuel Community.

On February 2, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Chartres. The Archbishop of Tours , Bernard-Nicolas Aubertin OCist , ordained him episcopal on April 15 of the same year in the Cathedral of Chartres . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Evry-Corbeil-Essonnes , Michel Pansard , and the Bishop of Beauvais , Jacques Benoit-Gonnin .
