Gerhard Pieschl (born January 23, 1934 in Mährisch Trübau , Czechoslovakia ) is a Roman Catholic theologian and auxiliary bishop emeritus in the Diocese of Limburg . He is a Familiar of the Teutonic Order .

Life

Gerhard Pieschl studied philosophy and theology at the Philosophical-Theological University in Königstein , the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg and the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz . On December 8, 1961, he received the sacrament of ordination through Bishop Wilhelm Kempf in Limburg Cathedral .

From 1962 to 1968 he was Subregens in the Episcopal Konvikt Hadamar , later chaplain in Bad Ems, Bad Schwalbach and Frankfurt am Main. Gerhard Pieschl was a long-time representative of the German Bishops' Conference for police chaplaincy .

Since January 1983, Pieschl has been the representative of the German Bishops' Conference for Catholic pastoral care for expellees and emigrants. As bishop of expellees , he is the chairman of the “Aussiedler” working group and chairman of the “evangelical pastoral care” working group of the German Bishops' Conference. Pieschl also coordinates the work of the canonical and apostolic visitators for the faithful from the dioceses of the former German eastern territories .

Since 2001 he has been a member of the commission for universal church tasks of the German Bishops' Conference and a member of the sub-commission for Central and Eastern Europe, especially Renovabis .

Awards and honors

Pieschl has been an honorary member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Ferdinandea-Prague in Heidelberg in the Cartell Association (CV) .

In October 2000 Pieschl became the Ehrendomkapitular of the Metropolitan Chapter to Olomouc appointed in the Czech Republic.

In 1996 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class . In December 2006 he received the highest award in Hesse, the Wilhelm Leuschner Medal . On 1 July 2007 he was awarded the Silesian sign of Landsmannschaft Silesia in Hannover , Germany on the occasion of the meeting of Silesia in 2007, awarded.
