Pietro Brollo (born December 1, 1933 in Tolmezzo , Province of Udine , Italy ; † December 5, 2019 there ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Udine .

Life

Pietro Brollo, after studying Catholic theology and philosophy at the seminary in Udine at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, was awarded a doctorate. theol. PhD. He received on 17 March 1957 in Tolmezzo , Carnia , by the Archbishop of Udine, Giuseppe Zaffonato that ordination to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Udine. He was active in pastoral care in Ampezzo and Gemona and was professor and rector of the diocesan seminary in Udine.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Iulium Carnicum and auxiliary bishop in Udine on October 21, 1985 . The Archbishop of Udine, Alfredo Battisti , gave him episcopal consecration on January 4th of the following year; Co- consecrators were Domenico Pecile , Bishop of Latina-Terracina-Sezze-Priverno , and Emilio Pizzoni , Bishop Emeritus of Terracina, Priverno e Sezze and Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus in Udine.

On January 2, 1996, John Paul II called him Bishop of Belluno-Feltre ; the inauguration ( enthronement ) took place on March 3 of the same year. On October 28, 2000, he was appointed Archbishop of Udine by John Paul II, and on January 7, 2001, he was appointed to the office. In the Italian Bishops' Conference he was a member of the Commission for the Laity.

On August 20, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.

In 2010 he was honored with the Premio Epifania “Cavalierato del Friuli” of the city of Tarcento .
