Pietro de Villanova Castellacci

Pietro de Villanova Castellacci (born February 11, 1815 in Bracciano , † September 17, 1881 in Rome ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of the Curia .

Life

In December 1837 Pietro de Villanova Castellacci was ordained a priest . In April 1851 he became consultor of the Congregation for Apostolic Visitations. As a canon of the Lateran Basilica , he entered the service of the Curia in 1853 and was named House Prelate of His Holiness and Apostolic Protonotary on March 11 of the same year .

Pope Pius IX appointed him on November 30, 1854 titular bishop of Lystra . The episcopal ordination donated him on December 17th of the same year in Rome Giovanni Cardinal Brunelli ; Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Genoa , André Charvaz , and Vincenzo Tizzani CRL , former Bishop of Terni . In January 1855 Pietro de Villanova Castellacci became papal assistant to the throne . On March 26, 1855 he was made titular Archbishop of Petra in Palestine . He was appointed Consultor to the Holy Office in September 1862 ; in November of the same year he was made Vice President (Deputy Cardinal Vicar of Rome), a position he held until his resignation in 1868. Pietro de Villanova Castellacci was a participant in the First Vatican Council .

On February 28, 1879, he was appointed Latin Patriarch of Antioch , a position he held until his death.
