Pioneer is about 25 km east of LaBelle and about 160 km northwest of Miami .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 697 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 362 households. 88.8% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.1% as African American , 0.7% as Indians and 0.6% as Asian Americans . 6.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.2% to several ethnic groups. 33.6% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 25.5% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 36.5% of all households. 62.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring).
