action

Outcast and hunted

Milan in 1664: the sons of the Albrizzi noble family from Milan are inseparable and do everything together. Ferrante is a gifted fencer, while his brother Ippolito is more of a cool thinker. They are at odds with their neighbors, the corneros, because they claim part of the Albrizzi property for themselves. One day, Cornero's daughter returns from the convent and on the way meets Ferrante, who falls head over heels in love with her. He is too shy to visit her himself and therefore sends his brother Ippolito to bring her a letter. Ippolito also falls in love with Livia Cornero. During the border disputes, a momentous accident occurs when Ippolito accidentally shoots Livia and, as he thinks, kills her. When Ferrante arrives and realizes that they both loved the same woman, he tries to kill his brother. But they are attacked by Cornero's men. Ippolito is captured and slated to be executed, while Ferrante escapes. However, he cannot bear to witness the execution and rushes off. So he finally meets the notorious pirate “Devil's Claw”, who takes him on to his team. Together they become the horror of the oceans and Ferrante is soon the privateer's closest confidante. However, Ippolito is not executed, but thrown in prison.

In league with death

Ippolito has escaped from prison with two allies and is now spying as "Alexandre Du Bois" for the French king. He is sent to track down the pirate "Black Angel" in the Caribbean and hunt them down. This pirate is none other than his brother Ferrante, whom he is actually looking for in order to apologize to him and ask him for reconciliation. At a slave market, Ferrante frees the beautiful Isabella, who accompanies him on his raids for a while. Isabella is supposed to marry the ex-governor of Martinique, "Saint Luc", in Paris. The brotherhood of privateers is also being massively threatened by Spanish troops, so Ferrante sets off with his ship to Europe to have cannons made in Liège. Meanwhile, Ippolito stays as "Alexandre Du Bois" together with his companions Passaia and Cione on behalf of the King of France in Brabant, where he poses as the Swedish ambassador. He is involved in a duel with the enigmatic "Aurigemma", who hides his face behind a mask. “Aurigemma” recognizes Ippolitos' true identity, so that he and his companions have to flee to the coast to board a merchant ship to France.

Cornero's revenge

France and Spain want to work together to put an end to piracy in the Caribbean. Isabella's husband "Saint Luc" is sent there with a fleet. But he fails in this task and loses his life. Ippolito is then appointed by Cornero to represent the Spanish crown and commandant of Martinique. Ippolito is excited to meet Isabella again in the Caribbean. He thinks his brother Ferrante is dead because he found his grave. In desperation he devotes himself to the hunt for the "Black Angel", whom he believes to be Ferrante's murderer. Mercilessly he pursues all the privateers and hunted down one after the other. By chance Ippolito learns that the "Black Angel" is none other than his brother, who was believed to be dead. He tries to find a reconciliation, but Ferrante cannot and will not forgive him. It comes to an open battle, in the course of which the ship Ferrantes, the "Livia" sinks. But there is no trace of Ferrante.

The secret of the caciques

The Indian woman Malina succeeds in bringing the seriously injured Ferrante ashore, where she nurses him to health together with an Indian priest. The priest lets Ferrante in on the secret of his tribe: the fates of all people are kept woven in fabric in a gold-shining pyramid in an underground cave. Ferrante can read his own story there. But this look into the future also heralds the downfall of the Spaniards and their king. After the battle, Ippolito, weakened by the recent loss of his brother, suffers from a severe fever. Isabella takes care of him, but the doctors no longer have any advice to save him. In the meantime, Cornero, accompanied by the enigmatic "Aurigemma", arrives at her place and offers her his support. Behind the "Aurigemmas" mask is Livia, believed to be dead, who is disfigured by Ippolito's gunshot wound, but survived. Troubled by hatred of Ippolito and Ferrante, she still seeks revenge and wants to see the brothers die. Ferrante is now married to Malina. When the Spaniards attack their village, they all flee to the nearby cave. But the Spanish attackers are in the majority and so they can only be liberated with the support of Ippolito and the pirate "Devil's Claw".

criticism

“Entertaining, but flat costume ball. […] Colorful pirate activity in TV format […] Colorful banter in shallow waters "
