Paolo Seganti (born May 20, 1965 in Rovereto , Trentino ) is an Italian actor .

Life

Paolo Seganti grew up as the third son of five children in different places in Italy, but mainly in the small town of Campogalliano outside Modena . At the age of 18 he moved to Los Angeles , where he tried his hand at amateur boxing, as he did in Italy, until he discovered acting and spent several years in the theater. His good looks earned him lucrative modeling jobs for campaigns by Chanel , Yves Saint Laurent , Jeanne Lanvin , Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein , for which he was photographed by Bruce Weber , Jean-Paul Goude , Peter Lindbergh and Jean-Baptiste Mondino , among others . In New York he then concentrated more on his acting career, where he starred in Peter Shaffer's play Equus .

From 1994 he played the role of Damian Grimaldi in 164 episodes of the long-lived US television series Young and Passionate - As Life Plays , for which he was nominated in the same year for the Soap Opera Digest Award in the category of best young actor. A year later he was nominated again for this award for the same role, now as "the hottest male star". In 1996 he was also featured in two episodes of the sitcom The Nanny . In the same year he made his screen debut in a small role in Woody Allen's star-studded musical Alle haben: I love you . In Curtis Hanson's critically acclaimed neo-noir L.A. Confidential in 1997, he appeared alongside Russell Crowe in the role of gangster Johnny Stompanato, who, as shown in the film, was the lover of screen diva Lana Turner . This was followed by other appearances in US series such as Nash Bridges (1997) and Babylon 5 (1997).

In 1998 returned Seganti back for a few years in Europe, where he in 1999 Franco Zeffirelli's Tea with Mussolini alongside Cher , Maggie Smith and Judi Dench came in a supporting role for use. In 2013, his role in One Life to Live appeared again in a US soap opera for 11 episodes.

Seganti has been married to actress Carlotta Chang since 2005. A daughter was born in 1999. The couple have four other children together. Seganti and his wife have been running the Italian restaurant “La Pergoletta” in Los Feliz , a district of Los Angeles, since 2014 .
