Pirates ( English for 'pirates') is a porn film from 2005 , which, like many expensive erotic productions of recent times, is based on a corresponding Hollywood film, in this case Pirates of the Caribbean .

In 1763, Captain Edward Reynolds unsuccessfully hunts pirates . However, after he saves Isabella from distress at sea, he learns from her that the ship on which she was traveling with her husband was ambushed by the famous pirate Victor Stagnetti. Stagnetti is looking for a treasure map that he wants to wrest from the powers of darkness with the help of a magical ritual.
With the support of his first officer Jules and the rest of the crew, Reynolds learns of this project. Unexpectedly, he also receives help from Stagnetti's first officer Serena, who has fallen from grace because she could no longer endure the increasingly brutal methods of her captain. A race against time begins to see who will arrive on Treasure Island first. Reynolds reaches the island shortly after his adversary and is attacked by a horde of undead sailor skeletons that Stagnetti had previously summoned with the aim of a treasure hunt, a powerful artifact. After his escape, there is a final battle between the adversaries at sea.

Pirates is a co-production of the Digital Playground and Adam & Eve studios and was the most expensive porn film to date. The film was partly shot on board a replica of the HMS Bounty in the port of Saint Petersburg , Florida . Like all current Joone films, the film was filmed with high-definition video cameras. It contains an unusually large number of special effects for a work of this genre .
The film contains numerous allusions to Pirates of the Caribbean , including the setting and the comedy elements in some dialogues and the satirical portrayal of the pirate hunter Reynolds as a naive, boastful, but sympathetic antihero .
Pirates is sold in a three-DVD box which, in addition to the WMV-HD version (720p with 5.1 surround sound), also contains a standard DVD version and a special DVD with various making-ofs and biographies of the actors.
On May 21, 2006, an abbreviated version of the film received an R rating from the MPAA , which opened up new sales and advertising opportunities compared to the NC-17 rating that is otherwise mandatory for porn films. According to the studios, Pirates is the first adult movie to have succeeded.
In 2007 the HD-DVD version of the film was also released, on January 4, 2008 a Blu-ray Disc version in 1080p.
The film was shot on a budget of $ 1 million and was the most expensive film in the genre at the time.

In January 2007 it was announced that Digital Playground will release a second part of the film - again under the direction of Joone. A trailer of Pirates II was shown at AVN's Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas . The film was released in the United States under the title Pirates II: Stagnetti's Revenge on September 27, 2008 on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Actors in Pirates II include Abbey Brooks , Belladonna , Brea Lynn, Brianna Love , Gabriella Fox and Jenna Haze .
