A six-month-old baby is kidnapped from the children's ward of a hospital in Frankfurt (Oder). A few hours later, little Leon Hallmann was abandoned in front of a hospital in Gorzów Wielkopolski , Poland . The kidnapper Pawel Rozanski is found dead a short time later. Chief Inspector Olga Lenski and Chief Inspector Adam Raczek investigate the complicated environment of the kidnapped small child. It turns out that the kidnapper was the child's biological father and was slain by the biological mother Anna Kowalska. The adoptive parents, Robert and Sabine Hallmann, had been able to get the child with a fake proof of paternity.

In a parallel plot, Adam Raczek is temporarily shown outside the door by his wife because he is not ready to talk to her about wanting to go back to work.
