Poljanyzja ( Ukrainian Поляниця , Russian Поляница Poljaniza , Polish Połanica Popowiczowska ) is a mountain village in the western Ukrainian Oblast Ivano-Frankivsk near the border with the Transcarpathian Oblast with 686 inhabitants (2007).
Until September 2008 the village, first mentioned in writing in 1654, was called Paljanyzja / Паляниця .
Geographical location
Polyanyzja is located in the Gorgany , a mountain range of the Forest Carpathians at an altitude of 910 m . The mountain stream Prutez Jablunyzkyj ( Прутець Яблуницький , also called Пру́тчик / Pruttschyk ), a 16 km long tributary of the Prut, flows through the village . To the southeast of the village runs the national trunk road N 09 , which leads south to the nearby Jablunyzkyj Pass and north to the oblast capital Ivano-Frankivsk , 100 km away . The nearest train station is in Tatariv, 15 km away on the Sighetu Marmației – Ivano-Frankivsk railway line . The highest mountain in the area is the 1371 m high Dowha .

Is known for the village which is in the northwest of the municipal area winter sports - Resort Bukovel , the largest and most modern ski resort of Ukraine , which according to an adjacent 1127 m is named high mountain.
