Pomothy (also Pomothy de Horhi et Unatényi ) is a Hungarian nobility family that was first mentioned in 1339. The family belonged to the high nobility of Hont County .

history

Peter Pomothy was mentioned as the first member of this family. In the 16th century, the royal envoy Franciscus Pomothy married Elisabeth Déméndi de Theszéri . She was the heir to the great rulership in Demandice . Through this marriage, the family received possessions in Demandice, Domadice , Bory , Santovka and Krškany .

Around 1600 Michael Pomothy changed his last name to "Almassy". Michael was a judge in Hont County . This line was continued in the female line in the noble families Egry de Siroki .

The family acquired the Horša rule in 1629 . The heyday of the family was in the 17th and 18th centuries. They married into numerous aristocratic families, such as the families of the Domaniky , Rákóczy, Sirchich , Bory , Dedinszky, Thúry , Keviczky, Sarnóczay , Batisz, Johannides and Dalmady .

At the end of the 18th century the lines of families developed into different activities, some were landlords and the others became entrepreneurs in the local iron industry.

On April 4, 1846 there was a meeting between the noble family Pomothy and Meszáros. The content of the meeting was the division of the Svodov estate, which is now part of Želiezovce . The noble family of Pomothy was represented by Ladislaus and David Pomothy and, alongside the Meszáros, was represented by Karl and Gabriel.

The descendants of the families now live in Austria , Slovakia , Hungary , the Czech Republic and all over the world.
